(in the end...) Ocean Waves Review

In the end....it's time for me to review, Ocean Waves (1993) movie.

Technically, I watched the movie yesterday (24th May 2020) & just didn't feel like posting my review yet until now. But of course there were somethings I needed to edit.

In all honesty I thought this movie was going to be just a slice of life probably slightly drama movie. I didn't watch a trailer for this movie I only read maybe partially of plot, for the movie. But what really got me to watch to watch the movie was the title of this YouTube video. I haven't watched it yet but it caught my attention because I've never heard of the movie. So I decided to watch the movie first, type this review, & then watch the video (which I do plan to do after posting this)  below.

I felt like a plot was all over the place. I was trying to pinpoint what the story was actually going to be about but everything just technically moved very quickly. But the main thing I got from it was, transferred girl comes into town and pretty much shakes up the lives of two young men who were pretty much doing a okay before she came along. The website I used to watch this video had the lip sync off for the subtitles so I had to deal with it. 

Now let's get I to the nitty gritty of things.

First, I honestly thought Taku had a crush on his best friend Yukata. Or his best friend has a crush on him but was just awkward. That's where my mind wandered to a dramatic coming to terms with your feelings plot. But...this movie had other plans; I mean they had their moments so...

This image (below) really had me thinking one of them was gonna confess or something.

Second, the transfer girl Rikkako. She's a liar & manipulative as hell! She lies about what she needed the money for, she does have an attitude, and I get that your parents are divorced but that doesn't mean to drag people along into your plans! Asking the boy for 60,000 yen is a bit damn much  & then going to ask his best friend for another 20,00 yen! Are you kidding me?! Then having a new friend you just made lie about where your going on the trip y'all planned & making it seem like it's not a big deal! But I'm glad the child had common sense! And was like hell no, I'm not lying to my parents for you; Glad Katu gave her a damn pep talk though cause Yumi was freaking out!

Does Rikkako not understand that not everyone can just go sneaking around to places like her? Yumi has strict parents!  Another thing that got me was her crying to get her way & using Katu to show off to her old boyfriend! She really is trying to stand out & be petty as shit! Her father did pay back Taku though but still. She should've stopped being petty as hell & just asked to go visit her father without all this secret shit! 

If you round this off, it's basically $600. I wouldn't give this money to a person I barely know & then not tell me what your going to use the money for. Especailly when there trip was literally about to end. This should've been a red flag to stay the hell away from her; this is a moment we call, "That moment where I noticed I fucked up!"

Poor Yukata...he's so kind. But feel for it.

Honestly would've left her ass at the airport...should've just told her the damn truth. She's an awful friend in my opinion.

Poor boy had to play along & sleep in the damn tub. I know that was uncomfortable as hell.

Third, Katu is a smart kid that'lltell it to your straight. The one thing that made my day in this movie was him slappingthe mess out of her! She already spreading rumors about there trip & now she hurts her best friends feels. He's fed up with her shit! (The slap fight we never expected to have.) Also even got the best friend going against him. Katu getting slapped & punched because of this chick.

Lastly, why did they have to end up together? Like, she was a literal bitch. I wouldn't have went to the other side of the train station for her.

That's all I have to say about the movie. But I'm about to go finally watch that youtube video I mentioned. Hope you all liked my little rant & hopefully the screeenshots helped because the struggle was real uploading them. Laptop was being a total idiot; I'll rate the movie a 3/5 because it did give me some bit of nostalgia for the 90s. Since I'm a 90s baby but go watch the movie for yourself if you like, you might have a different opinion then me. For I dn't why I didn't turn on my "these are high schoolers I was once one once" but my life didn't go like this so I can't relate. Lol. Sorry I'm not sure how to end this post, my sleep schedule is crap s this is all you can get from me.
