(In the end...) Mary & the Witch's Flower
(Typed all this up on my Notes app on my android phone. More of a rant then a review. But here we are; I didn't look back to edit this at all by the way. Also, trying to edit the image is harder now.)
I wasn't spoiled of anything before watching this movie & I've only seen the trailer once. And that was around the time the movie was going to come out. Just wanted to put that out there.
My thoughts on how I thought the movie would go:
A young girl gets lost in the woods, finds a flower that actually has magical powers, attracts magical people, & then attends school. But while attending hints are given that something is off with the teachers or staff there. So she might have to like literally blast her way out of this!
My thoughts after actually watching the entire movie:
So. I have a ton of questions. But first let's do this.
The visuals were freaking stunning, love the music that went along with certain interactions or things possibly taking place, & the voice actors. They were good as well.
I had the subtitles on thinking that it was going to be in Japanese but nope it was in English.
I quickly did that cause I have some questions & complaints!
First off, Mary annoyed me a bit with doing stuff. No lie! But I had to remind myself she is just a child.
2nd, threw me a loop to find out the aunt was the one who took the damn seeds! I honestly thought the girl was her in the beginning but she just reincarnated herself. And she just had amnesia! But hell no! It was the freaking aunt!
3rd, why didn't the aunt continue doing magic? Did she loose that ability when leaving her true home? Does anyone else in the family know her true origin? Are there other family members that have magic or is it every other generation that gets it or something?
4th, Why doesn't Mary naturally have magic if she's related to her great aunt? Does one parent have to be a witch or warlock for the magical genetics to be passed on?! Will the Aunt tell more about her past to Mary or is everyone going to clact like none of this shit happened?! I'm so confused! Plus I'm just freaking curious!
5th, I love the fact that there spell casting is with phrases. And not much of using a wand or a staff. Although, even if they had one they would still need to say words for the spell to activate and the will.
6th, I love he fact the cat knew way more then anyone else. An did it all to get his girl back! Power to you kitty!
7th, I'm not saying I hated the movie. I got the premise of what they were trying to do...idk I guess I just want more.
Lastly, me & Mary are totally different! I would love be to keep learning magic but still be me! Forget never doing magic again! She's crazy! But I get after all that she noticed that wanting to change isn't a good thing. And that magic can't solve everything for it has both it's good and bad sides.
